Basic Engineering

Basic Engineering serves as the foundation for detailed design and engineering development during the procurement and construction phases, establishing technical requirements for the common design, fabrication, construction, and operation and maintenance of equipment and facilities. In the Basic Engineering phase, a cost estimate is typically refined to +/- 15 ~ 30%, and this package is often referred to as the front-end engineering and design (FEED).

FEED encompasses mechanical data sheets of main equipment derived from process specifications, while Basic Engineering involves developing and incorporating specific requirements of codes and standards with preliminary vendor information, aligning with client specifications

The key activities during Basic Engineering include

  • *  Examination of available concepts, basics, and preliminary planning.
  • * Elaboration of the solution concept and execution of design planning (basic engineering).
  • * Creation of basic and process flow diagrams, process planning, and process and plant descriptions.
  • * 3D scanning and status imaging.
  • * Determination of systems and plant components, including calculation and dimensioning.
  • * Rough balancing of mass and energy flows.
  • * Determination of space requirements for selected components like pumps, pressure maintenance      systems, and pipework.
  • * Presentation of the solution in plans on a suitable scale.
  • * Determination of operating parameters and pressure stages.
  • * 3D planning of pipe layout with installation plans.
  • * Determination of energy demand and exploration of temporal overlap of energy requirements.
  • * 3D system design planning and layout design, indicating approximate positions and sizes of central equipment, systems, and pipelines.
  • * Hazard and operability study (HAZOP).
  • * Clarification of technical performance limits.
  • * Preparation of P&I (Piping and Instrumentation) flow diagrams.
  • * Mass, material, and energy balancing.

Detailed Engineering

Detailed engineering encompasses the extraction of crucial information from basic engineering drawings and calculations, aiming to provide precise and comprehensive drawings for production, fabrication, and erection elements. This process extends to furnishing meticulous details for the entire project, inclusive of an accurate bill of quantities and specifications for each equipment component. The components of detailed engineering include:
  1. * Elaborate design and drawings for civil foundations, building construction, evacuation, etc.
  2. * General arrangement drawings depicting various plant buildings and floors.
  3. * A comprehensive plant layout drawing.
  4. * Piping design and drawings, covering material specifications, layout drawings, isometrics, stress analysis, bill of materials, and pipe supports.
  5. * Thorough design of the electrical system, encompassing equipment, switchgear, switchyard, transformer layouts, earthing system design, detailed load lists, feeder lists, cable schedules and sizing, cabling layouts, illumination system layout, protection system, relay settings, etc.
  6. * Control and Instrumentation (C&I) system details, such as DCS/PLC system configuration, I/O lists, logic diagrams, closed and open-loop schemes, and hook-up drawings.
  7. * Review of vendor drawings and datasheets for comments and approval.
  8. * Preparation of as-built drawings and Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals.
  9. * Creation of detailed technical documentation, including manuals and specifications.
  10. * Ensuring strict adherence to industry standards and regulations throughout the detailed engineering process.

Procurement Assistance
